FAQ About Certificate of Deposit (CD) Accounts

A certificate of deposit account provides a fixed rate of interest that is typically greater than what is offered for savings accounts.

However, in turn for the higher earning potential, you commit to keeping your funds in place for an agreed-upon term. An early withdrawal penalty will be imposed if withdrawn before the maturity date.

Specific CD interest rates will vary based on the type of CD you choose and the length of the term.

There are no fees for opening a CD account.

Almost all financial institutions, including Bank of Hope, will not let you add new funds to a traditional CD that has yet to mature except for Bank of Hope's Flex CD which allows you to add additional deposits during a term.

The good news is that a CD is considered to be collateral that you can leverage when obtaining a personal loan.

Yes, we will contact you via mail typically within 30 business days of the maturity date.

Also, you will have the option to not renew automatically upon account opening.
